Desde entonces ha ayudado a muchas embarcaciones en la costa noroeste de la Isla en el Pasaje de la Mona.  En el 1918 hubo un terremoto y causo un tsunami y destruyo el edificio original.  Fue reconstruido cuatro a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s.
